P78 | STUDENT LIFE CENTER. Mersin university social and cultural center.
by Benan Dönmez
The student life center in the Mersin University Ciftlikkoy Campus established a social and cultural interaction region, bringing life and vitality into the campus. It also appears to meet various needs, including housing, large-scale events, festivals, meetings and congresses in the city that will host the 17th Mediterrean Games. The most important factor in determining the scope of the project design has been the project area that helped shaping the spaces with many qualities and differences. Thus, the protection of the meaning of the place was the main principle. The ventilation corridors: The wind flow along the flat areas between the slope peaks steeper than was observed towards the slopes, so the necessity of the use of the wind corridors in these areas was considered. The valley floor: The air flow through the base of the valley floor was determined, but because of the deposition there was contaminated air at night. So, protection of green tissue instead of structurizing along the valley floor can help clean the areas.
