Mecidiyeköy is an important place due to its location and its commercial capacity. After Ali Sami Yen Stadium was demolished, the area became an economic and political focus due to its value. Tekel Liqueur and Cognac Factory (registered building) which is near the stadium is an important wealth factor for the area. Mecidiyeköy is a busy district during day time and desolate at nights because of the density of commercial buildings and its importance for public transportation. Besides, the only open-space is Tekel Factory’s garden. In this context, the aim of the project was to create a space where people can feel relieved in this chaos. The project area was totally transformed into a green area while closed spaces were placed underground with the aim of isolating them from the traffic noise, since the units which were in the program, like the auditorium, didn’t require natural light. The potential of topography were used and a large crack was formed 7 meters below ground. Large ramps attract people to the underground square and connect them with the Tekel Factory at the same time. The noise of the traffic was blocked by the wall which had noise insulation panels.
